Portfolio

At MuseArts, we're proud of the work we've done for folks over the 10+ years we've been in business. We've had the chance to work on some amazing projects, from a real-time around the world adventure to regional real estate marketing. No matter what kind of site we're doing, it's always interesting. Use the sidebar to browse some of the sites we've done for ourselves and others. Or read on for a few brief cases in point.

  • Independent Bookselling Online

Book Cellar / Bartleby's BooksThe owner of The Book Cellar and Bartleby's Books called us to create a custom web site for their bookstores, to include e-commerce using their existing software. They wanted to be able to have blogs, a calendar, newsletter signup, and other features, as well as the ability to update the site themselves. We recommended Wordpress for features and ease of use. We created a custom template design for them that complements their ongoing print marketing, and built out the site with all the features they had requested. The site went live, their customers loved it. End of story? Not quite. A month after going live, they called us back to convert their site to Drupal so they could use it with the latest ABA e-commerce package. We're happy to oblige and think the Drupal site will be even better.

  • A Book Site That Works

Conferences That WorkAdrian Segar was in the process of self-publishing a manual entitled Conferences That Work, and needed a web team to design and produce an interactive site to promote the book. We chose Wordpress as the content management system, because it had all the features our client needed and the administrative tools are easy to use. We built a custom template for his site, set up the blog, and added plugins for event management, contact forms, and other features. The site matches the look and feel of the book, and makes it easy for site visitors and potential book buyers to learn about peer conferences, view sample chapters, download extras, and most importantly, buy the book. Best of all, our client can manage the site himself using a convenient online control panel.

  • Pet-Friendly Holiday Interactive

Petfinder.comPetfinder.com have hired us in the past to do fun Flash gizmos for their web site visitors. In 2009, they contacted us about doing a Christmas interactive for kids, featuring musical animals. Their concept was to parody the popular interactive music games, which was a tall order but we were psyched, partially because we love animating animals. In the end, we created a band for them featuring a pig, duck, cat, dog, and rabbit who performed three specially-arranged and recorded holiday songs for folks to play along with. Site visitors were invited to sit in with the band and play the lead instrument of their choice, with a little help from "the instruction turtle" (don't ask). It was a lot of fun and we hope kids enjoyed playing it as much as we did creating it.

  • Facelift For Organic Fertilizers

North Country OrganicsNorth Country Organics, an organic fertilizer manufacturer and distributor, woke up one day to discover that they had a ten year old web site. Once serviceable, even attractive, it had become something of a marketing liability. North Country's goal was to look as good or better on the web as any of their competitors, with an up-to-date design and new, standards-compliant code. They had lots of great photos to work with, so to showcase the results side of their product line, we created a Flash intro to put on their home page. If there's one thing we would do differently, it would have been to put the products in a database for easier management without a lot of files. But even without that add-on, the site achieves the goals of improving aesthetics, usability and organization. For a glimpse of the old site, click here.

  • Pharmaceutical Consultant

Medivice ConsultingAfter many years in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Jeffrey Allard decided to strike out on his own. Today, hanging out your own shingle means getting a web site, and he duly ordered one from us. He wanted the site to look familiar and appropriate to industry professionals without being generic. Since blue is the industry color, we chose blue with the magenta to complement it. The site is simple, with Allard's services, credentials and contact information easily accessible at the click of a mouse.

  • Architect With Photos

David B. Ryan, ArchitectDavid Ryan came to us for a simple brochure site with a lot of pictures and architectural drawings that he wanted to display. We wanted his site to reflect the kind of elegant architectural design Ryan does himself, so we created a simple page template to show off the photos. The header features a row of images (which can be updated as new images come in) as a visual reminder that this is an architect's site. The Galleries are where Ryan can really show off his work, with a master menu of all the galleries, and image-driven navigation on the sidebar for each gallery. The graphic navigation helps keep users oriented so they don't get lost in all the photos.

  • A Blog But Not Really

Southern Vermont Dairy Goat AssociationThe Vermont Dairy Goat Association was looking for a professional-looking site that they could maintain themselves to market their group and its activities. We decided on WordPress as the platform for their site because it has all the tools the average user needs to manage their own site and is easy to customize and extend. We were able to design a template that the Goat enthusiasts liked. After that, we installed WordPress and the custom template, as well as all the plug-ins they wanted (a photo gallery, calendar, and a forum). Within a short time, the VDGA were up and running with their new site. We haven't heard from them since -- they do all their updates themselves so they don't need to call us for every little thing.

  • Interactive Regional Marketing Site

SouthernVermont.comThe Southeastern Vermont Regional Marketing Group wanted a web site to showcase everything that's cool about Southern Vermont for the benefit of tourists considering a trip. They wanted it to be interactive too so that area businesses would be able to add their own directory listings and events. And they wanted to feature a range of other supporting content with an easy-to-maintain content management system. The site is now live and getting regular submissions from area businesses and event sponsors. Tourists are visiting and getting great information, pictures, and links and Southern Vermont is getting more visitors as a result.

  • Legal Eagle On The Net

O'Meara LawO'Meara Law is one of the leading personal injury lawyers in southwestern New Hampshire and he wanted a site that showcased what he could do for clients. The site had to look both serious and friendly, not an easy balance to strike but we think we succeeded. We especially enjoyed creating the gallery of personal injury claims from 'slip and fall' to malpractice.

  • Big City Investment Bankers

Newbury Piret & Co.Boston's Newbury Piret has been one of our longest running clients. We designed their first web site back in 1999 and did a redesign in 2004. Their current site is among the first we built to feature dropdown menus, which are still popular today. The site presents Newbury Piret's many areas of expertise and showcases work they've done for clients in a variety of industries.

  • Advertising Elder Care

Hilltop HouseHilltop House is a non-profit assisted living facility in Brattleboro, VT. They needed a web site so that folks searching the Internet for assisted living facilities would be able to find them. We created a site that conveys some of the elegance and warmth of Hilltop House itself, with plenty of photos (and information) so site visitors can get a sense of the facility before they schedule a visit. Although it's a simple brochure site, it's just the ticket for Hilltop House.

  • Heart of Gold Veterinarian

Stonecliff Animal ClinicStonecliff Animal Clinic in Bradford, VT is one of our more active clients. They take an interest in keeping their site up to date and provide their own high quality photos for illustration. Since one of their specialties is orthopedic surgery, they have a special gallery of surgical procedures so people can see exactly what the surgery will entail. On a more cute and fuzzy tip, there are lots of photos of happy animals as well as a virtual tour of the hospital.

  • Warming To Natural Healthcare

T Namaya HomeopathyT Namaya is a homeopathic physician and wanted a web site that conveyed a calm, healing atmosphere using specific imagery and colors. He especially liked the blue heron as a focal image, and we found the perfect photo in our files. Our physician client also wanted to make sure that all the information he had available could be easily found, so we used dropdown menus (then a new concept) to make sure site visitors could access everything easily.
